Rostock (dpa / mv) – Under their captain Chris Carter, the Rostock Seawolves want to take the next step towards staying in the basketball Bundesliga at his ex-club Niners Chemnitz on Sunday (3 p.m. / MagentaSport). The American played for the Saxons in the 2016/17 and 2019/20 seasons, who made it into the BBL that year. Although the guard played with Vechta at his former club in the following season, the 30-year-old would like one thing when he returns – now in the Seawolves jersey: “Honestly, I would appreciate a small standing ovation I’m happy. In Chemnitz I got my first chance as a professional in Germany from Coach Pastore and I always have fond memories of the incredible fans. I’m looking forward to the game.”

On the field, Carter will no longer care about the Niners fans. There is a good chance of getting the 13th win of the season against the hosts in the 26th league game. Chemnitz have lost their last seven games and are one place behind Mecklenburg in the table (10th). In order to win the direct comparison, however, the team of head coach Christian Held needs a clear victory. In the first half of the season, Chemnitz had triumphed over the promoted team with 96:81.
