Barça assaults and stops Partizán

The ‘culers’ are close to being seeded and stop the Serbs in Belgrade

BARCELONA, 28 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Barça beat Partizán Belgrade (80-89) at the Stark Arena on Tuesday and is thus close to being seeded in the Euroleague ‘Playoffs’, for which it was already classified, while stopping the Serbian team, which he was on a roll until this duel, in his run to that next phase of the quarterfinals.

It was a complicated outing against a Partizan that had just won four of the last five games, including the 90-75 against Olympiacos, the leader of this Regular Phase. Barça, with a serious and solid game, was able to win where the best so far in the Euroleague did not.

And he did it saving a bad second quarter. Barça must still work on regularity, on being solid during the 40 minutes. It is the pending subject, but this time the 24-19 of the second period – where Barça came to lose by 8 – was scared. Sarunas Jasikevicius’s team recovered and closed a victory of great importance.

The ‘culers’, after beating Panathinaikos 74-88 on the last day and getting a pass to the ‘Playoffs’, visited a Stark Arena that was not going to make it easy. And so it was, with a great atmosphere in the stands and constant encouragement for Partizán, insufficient to intimidate a Barça that was firm in the two baskets to sentence.

Barça danced to the sound of Nico Laprovittola, with 25 points and 4/5 on three-pointers and 7 assists, and Nikola Mirotic, with 19 points and 8 rebounds. The ‘Nicos’ were the key men of a Barça where the Czech Jan Vesely (14 points) was also good, playing in front of what was his fans.

With many more assists than Partizán and with up to 10 more rebounds, Barça stood firm against some Serbs who, through their coach Zeljko Obradovic, congratulated the Catalans. And that Dante Exum, ex-Blaugrana, returned to play a great game against his former team and with 24 points he was the local spearhead.

But Barça, who came to win by 12 points in the third quarter after some free throws by Laprovittola (49-61), did not hesitate any longer after that second set that made them go to the break losing (45-44). In fact, in the last set Mirotic scored a triple ‘from home’ and patted another crucial ball.

Nor did Tomas Satoransky tremble from a distance or going to the basket. Barça, in general, was better and is close to being seeded, while Partizán will have to continue looking for the ticket to the coveted ‘Playoffs’. On the other hand, Barça’s homework is almost done after storming the Stark Arena.
