Banyol’s Coro is one step away from playing again at the Camp Nou with the Kings League

Two years after retiring, the ex-Bañol striker Ferran Corominas has the possibility to play again at Camp Nou this Sunday, March 26, with the Kings League by Gerard Pique. The four best teams in the new football championship ofstreamers they will face each other for the title of champion in the Final Four which will be played at the stadium of the first team of Barça, taking advantage of the suspension of selections in the First Division, and Coro opts for it with the team Kunisports which presides over the Only Aguero. Before that, however, he will have to qualify for the quarter-finals which will take place tomorrow between 17:00 and 20:30 at the Cupra Arena, where the games have taken place so far. Kunisports needs to win against YouTuber TheGrefg’s Saiyans FC in a play-off of maximum equality fifth against fourth, respectively, in the general classification. The play-off, which can be followed on the tournament’s official channel on Twitch, will be decided on Sunday at the Camp Nou. Coro, who has the third highest number of assists (6), trusts it.

“It will be a special day. Hopefully we can be protagonists in the field and not spectators. But we have confidence because during the league (11 games in which they have played against each other) it has been very good for us. No one expected the success of this competition, although when they told me about the possibility of being part of it I already thought it would be good. I’m very excited. The players are motivated to get to the Camp Nou, apart from the fact that most of them are from Barça”, explains the former striker from Girona.

Throughout his long career as a footballer, in which he has played for Espanyol, Girona or Elche, among others, Coro has set foot in the Camp Nou on nine occasions in which the balance has been five defeats, three draws and only one victory. The last time was in January 2015 in a Copa del Rey round of 16 match with Elche (2014-15 season). Eight years later, therefore, he has the opportunity to return with the Kings League. “It was a surprise to be able to enjoy the field again because I had been retired for two years. And, even more, having the possibility to play at Camp Nou. I’m happy. I would never have thought of that, really. I don’t think it was part of any player’s plans,” he says. On the stage of the final, he states that “in principle they will modify the dimensions of the field and it will be from area to area cutting a little”. “Having so much expectation might make some players shy at first, but it will certainly be a great experience. Playing in a stadium like this and, on top of that, full, always commands respect”, he adds. In his particular case, he remembers “the derbies with Espanyol”: “They were difficult games because Barça is a team and carries the weight of the game at Camp Nou. Usually, it was our turn to run behind the ball and suffer. Being able to go back is very nice.” For now, there is more than 75,000 tickets sold and from the organization it is entrusted to do the plenary.

Regarding the Piqué league, he assures that this football format7 “is very attractive”. “We all had to adapt because it’s a new competition. Nothing like it had ever been seen before. There are cards that change your games, the kick off is done like water polo with all the players on the goal line and then we have to go straight to the middle of the field to get the ball, the referees carry cameras so you can hear and see everything they say… And, above all, it’s shorter. Things happen all the time. Young people are hooked on it. In a normal football match, for example, it is sometimes difficult to maintain attention for 90 minutes when there are only five or six chances in the whole match. It’s different here”, he concludes.
