Badminton Xàtiva wins seven medals in the Campello tournament and the Autonomous Sub-15

The Xàtiva Badminton Club won seven medals in the TTR tournament in Campello and the Teulada Sub-15 Autonomous Championship, played last weekend. In it second TTR tournament of the seasonfor the sub-13, sub-17 and absolute categories, to which the club from Setabense attended with eight athletes, won two silvers and two bronzes; while in the Autonomous to which the club traveled with five players, he hung three bronzes.

In the TTR del Campello tournament, Adrià Meseguer won silver in the under-13 men’s doubles, in which they competed with Ivan Matveichuk, from CB El Campello, and were runners-up, after losing in the final against Luca Adrián and Mateo Gaja. Individually, Adrià couldn’t get past the group stage.

In sub-17 the best results were concentrated for CB Xàtiva, with the silver for Andrea Orquín in the women’s doubles, in which he played with Claudia Gallego, from CB Infante de Murcia. Andrea and Claudia started as the number two seed in the tournament and reached the final phase after winning all the group stage matches. In the final they faced Belén Guardiola and Sara Sáez, before whom they lost by two sets. In individual, Andrea, who started as the number two seed, made it to the stage without complications, winning all the matches. In the semifinal, she faced her doubles partner, Claudia Gallego, before whom she lost 17-21, 21-19 and 23-21, with a third set in which the Setabense woman had everything in her favor to close the game. , but she threw the flyer out with her rival beaten on the ground and she took advantage of it to recover and close the set on her side. So, Andrea who hung the bronze in individual.

The other bronze came in the sub-17 male doubles, with the brothers Jesús and Marcos Cimas, a medal that could well have been silver, after losing in a very close semifinal against Javier Basilio Calatrava and Marcos Montoya. In the first set they lost by a tight 23-21, but they recovered in the second, won 19-21. The third and final set was a carbon copy of the previous ones, although the Cimas brothers were more irregular, losing 21-17 at the end. Individually, Marcos reached the quarterfinals, where he lost 21-8 and 21-17 against Javier Basilio, executioner of his brother Jesús de él, whom he got out of the competition in the round of 16.

Finally, in the absolute category, Badminton Xàtiva competed with Eduard Beltrán and Julio Martín. Julio played the men’s and mixed doubles events. In the first he played with Ángel Rodríguez, with whom he beat the number one seeded couple, made up of Daniel Fernández and Alfredo Gomis, but lost to the runners-up, Ginés and Salvador Vallés. In mixed he competed with Eva Villaverde and they could not get past the group stage. For his part, Eduard competed individually and could not get any win.

Autonomous Sub-15 Bronzes

For its part, in the Teulada Autonomous Championship of sub-11, sub-15 and senior categories, the Xàtiva club won three bronze medals. In sub-15 came the metals. Feliu Terol won the individual bronze, after losing in the semifinal to Álvaro Ruiz, seed number two, 21-9 and 21-12. Feliu reached the semifinal after beating Elies Ivars in the quarterfinals 21-7, 18-21 and 21-15. Martina Molina also won the medal in the women’s individual, losing in the semifinal against the number 2 seed Leyre Simón, by 21-15 and 21-5. In the quarterfinals, Martina beat Flavia Bocica by 19-21, 21-13 and 21-17. The third bronze came in the men’s doubles, with Meshack Martínez and Alexis Piñero, who were disputing their first regional championship. The two Setabenses yielded to the couple that was proclaimed champion, made up of Álvaro Ruiz and Lucas Valles, by a double 21-11. Eduard Beltrán also competed in the Autonomous Championship, in the absolute category, who fell in the round of 16.
