ATP Indian Wells: Holger Rune is eliminated after a tough fight against Stan Wawrinka – “Don’t you have anything more to say now?”

In the second duel between the two players last night, it was again an exchange of blows on the court – and then: Rune fended off a match point in the second set and caught up a 0:4 deficit in the tie-break.

In the decisive set it remained tight between the opponents, but at 5:5 Wawrinka managed a break and he won the match.

The handshake at the net then continued. Rune asked smiling: “Don’t you have anything more to say now?” Wawrinka didn’t understand, whereupon Rune repeated: “You have nothing more to say?”

“What do you want to hear from me?” the Swiss replied while Rune had already turned away. The Dane then reacted, but his words remained incomprehensible to the fans. But one thing became clear: Rune has not forgotten what Wawrinka accused him of.

Wawrinka has to play against Jannik Sinner, who is eleventh, in the next round. The Italian was able to beat Frenchman Adrian Mannarino 7: 6, 6: 4 during the night.

Hubert Hurkacz was also over in the third round. The Pole was beaten by Tommy Paul (USA) 6:4, 2:6, 4:6. Struff conqueror Paul meets Canadian Félix Auger-Aliassime in the round of 16.
