Sebastian Korda must continue to pause

The 2023 season has not been satisfactory for Casper Ruud so far, but for the organizers of the ATP Tour 250 event in Estoril, the Norwegian is almost worth his weight in gold. Because as of now, the Norwegian will lead the field as the last remaining top player. On the other hand, Pablo Carreno Busta and now Sebastian Korda have withdrawn. The young American has been suffering from wrist pain since the Australian Open.

Emil Ruusuvuori, who showed strong performances in Miami, also orients himself differently in the Estoril week.

Thiem with good chances

On the other hand: With Sebastian Baez and Diego Schwartzman, two Argentinians with almost the same build and type of game are coming to Portugal. And with Ben Shelton, a young American who will make his debut on European clay.

By the way, Jurij Rodionov could move up into the field. So the Austrian doesn’t find another tournament that suits him better. And in Estoril not another prominent replacement is found.

Dominic Thiem will definitely be at the start. And in view of the clearing field, the Austrian number one can have justified hopes for a deep run in Estoril. Points are urgently needed with regard to the fixed starting place in Roland Garros.
