Manaus/AM – Three athletes from the Manaus City Hall’s “Manaus Olímpica” program were, last weekend, in action outside Amazonas, in three different modalities. The trio was awarded airline tickets, through the Manaus Esporte Foundation (FME).

Pedro Henrique Santos, of flag football; Pablo Casado, Stand Up Paddle (SUP) or standing rowing athlete; and Felipe Nobre, table tennis athlete, traveled, with the support of Manaus City Hall, in search of success and new milestones in their careers. The director-president of FME, Aurilex Moreira, explains that the program brings local talents closer to big challenges.

Flag Football

Young Pedro Henrique Santos, 16 years old, was summoned by the Brazilian Confederation of American Football (CBFA) and participated in the flag football Training Camp with the Brazilian youth team, in São Paulo, on March 25th and 26th.

The performance of the Black Hawks athlete was satisfactory to the point that coach Rodney Ribeiro confirmed him as one of the names to wear the yellow jersey again in the Intercontinental Sub-20 Tournament of the modality, which will take place in the second half, in Panama, against the selected of the house, United States and Mexico.

Stand Up Paddle

In Bahia, Pablo Casado competed in the first stage of the Brazilian Stand Up Paddle Championship, stand up rowing. The 45-year-old athlete reached the podium in the Master category with fourth place, and finished in eighth overall, thus ensuring the best result by an Amazonian in the history of the tournament.

“We represent Amazonas and started the year well. Thank you for being part of this story, supporting and encouraging our sport. I’m the current Brazilian runner-up on the circuit and I’m going to fight for another title this year”, celebrated Pablo.

Table tennis

From the waters of Bahia to the gymnasiums of São Paulo, Felipe Nobre, 13 years old, participated in the youth selection to form the Brazilian under-13 table tennis team, which took place from March 26th to 28th. The athlete ended up not getting the spot.

Felipe remained in São Paulo and will be in action at the TMB Platinum Brasileiro Interclubes Olímpico, between March 29th and April 2nd, aiming for more national conquests in the modality.
