AS Roma make a fool of themselves at Kellerkind US Cremonese. The attention is on coach José Mourinho. The Portuguese sees the red card after a dispute with the fourth official. Yet again. Afterwards, Mourinho can no longer be stopped.

JOsé Mourinho’s hot temper has resurfaced. For the third time this season, the AS Roma coach did not see the end of a game on the sidelines. Each time because of a similar pattern: in September, a denied penalty against Atalanta Bergamo had enraged him so much that he ran onto the pitch to berate the referee. Smooth red. Against FC Turin in November, the Portuguese had threateningly built up in front of the referee and insulted him. Smooth red. And now on Tuesday evening the third strike in the 1: 2 embarrassment against the relegation candidate US Cremonese. Smooth red.

A few seconds after the restart, Mourinho was enraged by an aerial duel between his central defender Marash Kumbulla and opponent Frank Tsadjout, demanding a free kick for his team. Referee Marco Piccini let play continue – to the displeasure of the 60-year-old coach. Mourinho tangled with fourth official Marco Serra, so violently that he signaled to Piccini and had Mourinho sent off in the 47th minute.

Mourinho had not cooled down in the stands in the second half. “For the first time in my career, a fourth official spoke to me in an incredible way. That couldn’t be justified,” rumbled “The Special One” after the end of the game. He now wants to find out if there is a sound recording of the incident. What exactly Serra is said to have said to Mourinho remained open.

“He had memory problems”

In any case, the coach sensed a conspiracy, as he hinted. “I don’t want to go into the fact that he’s from Turin, we’re playing Juventus next time and he wanted me out,” Mourinho said in reference to Serra’s origins and possible ties to Rome’s upcoming opponents. There was still a dialogue between the two in the referee’s cabin, which apparently didn’t go to Mourinho’s taste either. “I told Serra that he should have the courage to explain what happened, but he had memory problems,” reported Mourinho, summing up for his kind: “I’m emotional, but not crazy.”

Without Mourinho in the coaching zone, AS Roma couldn’t avert defeat. Frank Tsadjout (17′) and Daniel Ciofani (83’/penalty) scored for the hosts, but Leonardo Spinazzola’s equalizer (71′) wasn’t enough.

It was the first win for newly promoted Cremonese on matchday 24. Including the club’s last first division season in 1995/96, the club from Lombardy even waited 30 league games for a threesome – that’s a shared negative record in Italy. With the win, Cremonese jumps to the penultimate place, while AS Roma remain in fifth place in the Europa League behind city rivals Lazio.
