Arsenal have extended their lead in the English Premier League. After a 4-0 (2-0) win against Everton, who were threatened with relegation in the seventh round, the Gunners are five points ahead of pursuers Manchester City.
Everton fought back in London for over half an hour before Bukayo Saka (40th) gave the home side the lead. Gabriel Martinelli (45+1) increased before the break before Martin Ödegaard (71) made the final decision. Martinelli (80th) put the final point.
Arsenal’s man of the match was 21-year-old Saka. The right winger was successful with a shot under the bar from a tight angle before stealing the ball from a reluctant Idrissa Gueye to make it 2-0. The goal counted according to VAR studies, Martinelli was wafer-thin not offside. Everton bounced back briefly after a break, but the game was over with Odegaard’s 3-0.
