Jannis Nikolaou (90 + 1) rewarded the offensive efforts of the hosts, who climbed to relegation place 16. Hanover has been without a win for nine games, the negative series in Braunschweig ended after five games without a threesome.

Braunschweig attacker Anthony Ujah (36th) hit the post of the 96 goal with an overhead kick. Anton-Leander Donkor (56th) forced Hanover goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler to make a brilliant save. The keeper was able to direct the ball to the post. Ujah’s header (60′) was also parried by Zieler.

In the ninth minute, referee Patrick Ittrich (Hamburg) had to interrupt the match briefly after pyrotechnics were ignited and thick clouds of smoke drifted through the stadium on Hamburger Strasse. In the 40th minute, the second interruption ordered by the referee followed.

In the run-up to the game, blue and yellow wooden crosses and red paint all around as an unmistakable threat to two Braunschweig professionals in front of their private apartments made big headlines and clearly exceeded the limit. Both clubs had condemned the tasteless action.

“What does that have to do with rivalry before a derby?” Eintracht CEO Wolfram Benz emphasized: “Threatening players and their families is completely unacceptable, such actions are just shameful.” 96-authorized officer Christian Katz also said: “We hope that the perpetrators will be identified quickly and will support the police investigation to the extent possible.”
