A record of victories for the Montagnards in badminton

The Montagnards hosted the RSEQ Québec-Chaudière-Appalaches regional doubles badminton tournament, which took place at the Polyvalente de Thetford gymnasium. The Thetford team had an exceptional day by winning a record number of victories in each of the sections where they were present.

In section 1, the powerful team of Cédrick Vachon and Félix Couture obtained a victory in the final against another duo of Montagnards formed by Samuel Laflamme and Thomas Lehoux-Bisson. In section 1 consolation, Aly Boissonneault and Philippe Émond of the Black Lake Titans won the final.

In section 2, the duo Jean-Ludovic Emond and Zachary Gosselin once again triumphed in the final.

In section 3, the duo Rayan Beaulieu and Jean-Philippe Loignon snatched a magnificent victory in overtime in the final, while their teammates Olivier Croteau and Ludovic Boisclair won the consolation final.

In section 4, Théo Lessard and Manu Beaudoin won an unequivocal final.

In section 5, Simon Houle and Émy Matteau from Polyvalente de Black Lake won the final.

The Montagnards team now intends to try to qualify some of its players for the RSEQ provincials during the regional finals which will take place on April 15th.

It should be noted that last year, Cédrick Vachon qualified for the provincials and finished fifth in Quebec in singles. He will evolve with the D1 team of the Cégep de Sherbrooke next year. For her part, Mia Boissonneault had been selected by the Dynamics of Cégep de Sainte-Foy in D1 last year.

The Montagnards badminton team at Polyvalente de Thetford is made up of 30 high school players who have worked hard to achieve such results. The three coaches, Jean Boissonneault, Catherine Lessard and Nadia Houde, are very proud of their accomplishments and hope to continue supporting the entire team in their sporting journey.
