A record and a title: Drew Timme’s perfect evening!

NCAA – Author of 18 points in Gonzaga’s victory in the final of the WCC conference tournament, the pivot thus became the best scorer in the history of the program!

Perfect end to a university career for Drew Timme : before attacking the last “March Madness” of his course at the beginning of next week, the “senior” pivot of Gonzaga won one last WCC conference title, his fourth in as many years on the Spokane campus.

In the final of the WCC conference tournament last night (all you need on conference tournaments, here), the Bulldogs, second in the regular season, effectively disposed of Saint Mary’s (77-51), champions of the regular season, to win a fourth consecutive title in the conference, and more broadly the tenth over the last eleven seasons.

It was a real basketball lesson given by Gonzaga, as effective in attack (58% on shots, including 57% from 3-pointers) as he is ruthless in defense (33% on shots, 11 ball losses for 8 assists at Saint Mary’s), during which the pivot quietly compiled 18 points at 8/10 on shots and 6 rebounds.

Becoming at the same time the best scorer in the history of the program, with 2,210 points scored to date, an average, over all of his four seasons, of 17.7 points but also 6.6 rebounds.

« The feeling is hard to describe

he assured, when his team lifted the WCC conference trophy again. ” I’m packing up with four titles [en WCC] in as many years. We know how to win here! »

Last step for Drew Timme, before turning to his future with the pros: the quest for a national title, the only accomplishment missing from his extensive record. After a successful regular season, Gonzaga is expected to start the NCAA Tournament (March 14-April 3) with a #3 or #4 seed, and will look like aoutsider dangerous.
