“A lot of frustration this season”

As in previous seasons, a great team of columnists tell their daily life, from preparation to competitions, ups and downs. For skicross, Terence Tchiknavorian, 2nd in the general classification last season, takes up the pen.

“I’m happy with my injury-free end to the season. There are many positives even if the results are not obvious. Very good starts, good training, that final in Craigleith (Canada). Now the World Cup winter is over, there are still the French championships in mid-April, then I’m going to cut it.

This winter has not lived up to my expectations. There was a lot of frustration after my good last season (he finished 2nd in the World Cup). Often, after a good winter, the next one is difficult. It’s hard to be at the top, it’s very hard to stay there. I realize a little more about the performance of Jean-Fred (Chapuis) who won three globes (2015, 2016, 2017). For my part, victory at Arosa save my season. »

“Congratulations to Youri Duplessis Kergomard”

“This winter, there was a change of staff. With the Midols (Bastien and Jonathan), we knew Mitch (Michel Lucatelli). He came back and saw how our sport had evolved in three to four years, especially the courses. The profiles are different. We needed to adapt and we learned a lot for the future. I want to highlight the great season of Youri (Duplessis Kergomard) who was good at the start, middle and end of winter and who finished fourth in the World Cup standings. Congratulations to him.

I’m already planning on next season. I want to play more often in front, that the guys (his competitors) are afraid of me at the start, I want to find this liveliness which allowed me to be in front. I think I can regularly find the top of the ranking. This will go through specific training, putting me in difficulty, getting out of my comfort zone. My starts must be a strong point. When I’m in front, that’s where I ski best. I also want to take risks at the right time, to be in the fight until the end even if it is already often the case.

Next year will be uneventful. For me, this does not fundamentally change my approach, I will approach it with the same desire. There will be ten World Cups, a globe to pick up. I will give my all. »
