“Zemgale”/LLU hockey players lose to Turku “TuTo”

Jelgavnieki lost 1:3 (0:1, 1:1, 0:1) to Turku “TuTo”.

In the 13th minute, Ćmeli Takala put the visitors in the lead, but in the 24th minute, Artūrs Karaš equalized the score.

However, already 63 seconds later, after the dismissal of Pēteris Purmaļis, Turku hockey players achieved a majority of 2:1.

In the 58th minute, Jespers Larinma scored another goal for the guests – 3:1.

Rihards Zimmermanis saved 35 pucks thrown by the opponents in the home goal, but Emils Vuorio could not manage one out of 38 shots for the visitors.

The home team won 3-0 on Friday.

Jelgava players will play their next matches on the road on February 28 and March 1, against Rovaniemi “Kiekko” (RoKi).

The Jelgava team with 38 points in 42 games takes the penultimate place in the competition of 14 teams, while “TuTo” is tenth with 55 points in 41 matches.

Latvian champion “Mestis” will play 52 games in four rounds in the main tournament of the league, 26 of which will take place in the “Zemgale/LLU” ice rink in Jelgava.

Last season, “Kettera” from Imatra became the champion team of the second strongest league in Finland, which defeated “Kiekko-Espoo” 4-1 in the final series.

Jelgava “Zemgale”/LLU won their first Latvian championship title in the 2021/2022 season, defeating the previous champion “Olimp”/”Venta 2002” 4-0 in the final series.
