Zaniolo Leaves Rome, Moves to Galatasaray

Istanbul

Nicolo Zaniolo officially closed his career at AS Roma. Zaniolo has just joined Turkish club Galatasaray.

Zaniolo’s future has indeed been speculated throughout the January transfer market. Roma, who couldn’t stand Zaniolo’s attitude, chose to sell him.

Initially AC Milan was interested but slowly backed down because they were not strong with Rome’s asking price. The club then reached a 30 million euro agreement with Bournemouth.

However, Zaniolo was reluctant to move to the bottom-of-the-table club in the Premier League even though he eventually changed his mind about accepting it. Unfortunately, Bournemouth have overdone spending money on other players.

Zaniolo’s fate was in limbo before finally accepting an offer from the Turkish Super League, namely Galatasaray. The agreement was finally reached, Thursday (9/2/2023) in the morning WIB.

Roma got 16.5 million euros down payment with bonuses reaching 13 million euros. Zaniolo is already in Turkey and has signed a 4.5 year contract.

He will earn around 3.5 million euros per season and is covered by a 35 million euro release clause. Roma will get a 15 percent share if Zaniolo is sold later.

Nicolo Zaniolo joined AS Roma in the summer of 2018 from Inter Milan as part of Radja Nainggolan’s transfer. Zaniolo appeared 128 times with a score of 24 goals.
