Treviso, Invernizzi and the impact with Serie A: “I just tried to put myself in the part, bringing more malice and energy”

A defeat and a victory: this is the balance of the first two matches played by NutriBullet Treviso with Hugo Invernizzi among its ranks. The French player born in 1993, one of the two reinforcements (along with Octavius Ellis) who arrived from the transfer market in recent weeks, although he failed to make an impact in terms of scoring in the first two outings with the team from Treviso (only two points and an overall 0/6 from the pitch) has however found a way to make a tangible contribution to coach Marcelo Nicola’s troop, a team where the native of Mulhouse immediately found talent and a positive climate.

“From the first training session I found high quality athletes, and even before arriving I didn’t understand how the NutriBullet could be in the relegation zone, but these are things that can happen when you lose games due to some small detail. I arrived after the home win in Brescia, so I experienced a good atmosphere but I think the last two games have given the environment even more confidence. I just tried to put myself in the part, bringing more malice and energy, with a little lucidity in an important moment of the season” the former Limoges player told “Il Gazzettino – Treviso”, having decided as soon as possible to raise his field performance.

“I certainly can’t do worse than these first two races. Against Tortona I tried to pick up the pace by looking for a few shots too many, forcing solutions. Against Tezenis I wasn’t at my best: I was sick all night between Friday and Saturday, so I tried to help by trying to limit my direct opponent and rebounding strongly, following the coach’s instructions. With such a fast-paced team there was no reason to force the shot, honestly I’m happy to play a game with zero personal points but won by the whole team”.

So Invernizzi didn’t mind at all not scoring even a basket in his second match with the blue-and-white team, a formation where the Frenchman has so far been used above all as a strong forward.

“It’s a role I’ve played often and I think I’ve assimilated my duties into a small quintet. But playing 3 or 4 makes little difference to me, I’m at the coach’s complete disposal” declared the new number 14 of the NutriBullet calmly, appearing very lucid in analyzing the collective performance of the last weekend.

“I think the difference was the management of the negative moments throughout the match, we were good at staying calm and united thanks to the defense and some important baskets that allowed us to keep the inertia in hand. Banks, Ike, Zanelli and then Ellis, who makes all the difference in the world in difficult moments and is very concrete and effective”.

Thanks to them, therefore, Invernizzi immediately had the opportunity to celebrate a success in Serie A, a championship that he has often followed across the Alps and which, next Sunday, will bring him and Treviso to another important challenge.

“I have followed many matches in recent years, it is competitive exactly as it was seen on the screen, I am very happy to be in Treviso. The match with Naples? Getting to the break with two wins in a row against two direct opponents could give us a nice emotional boost as well as help us on the path to safety. We will need a great match both mentally and technically, and I am convinced that Palaverde will be able to play a decisive role”.
