Fateful days for Austria’s NBA export Jakob Pöltl. The Viennese is in good form, but his team keeps losing. Is there a change now?
Against the Sacramento Kings, Pöltl delivered his tenth double-double of the season with 18 points and twelve rebounds. The San Antonio Spurs still had to admit defeat with 109:119.
The Texans are now the third-worst team in the NBA, and things could get worse for the Spurs. Because Pöltl, who is in top form, is apparently about to change – even top teams are vying for the center.
Leaders Boston, New Orleans, Toronto, Washington, Miami, Oklahoma City or defending champion Golden State should be on the 2.13-meter man’s turn. “I’m aware of the rumours, but it doesn’t really affect me. I’m still doing my thing, I’m still a Spurs player and that’s how I approach my job. Whatever happens with the trade situation, happens, and then I will approach the situation as it is presented to me,” said the Viennese.
But Pöltl would not be averse to a change to a top team: “Of course it’s positive and good to hear that very strong teams are also interested in me. I think it’s often because I have many different roles or roles of different sizes I can play, that with a good team I can easily take a step back and do the dirty work on the floor. So if a situation like that arises, I’m absolutely ready for it.”
Trades can be made in the NBA until February 9th. By then, at the latest, Pöltl will also know how things will continue for him.
