The 16th Komatsugawa Exchange Tournament of school children’s baseball (sponsored by the Clean Boys’ Baseball League and supported by the Tokyo Shimbun) opened on January 29th at the Hirai Boys Baseball Stadium in Edogawa Ward, Tokyo. The 33 participating teams aim for the final on the 23rd.

In the opening game, Hirai Victories (Edogawa) defeated Komatsu Phoenix (Katsushika) in the 4th inning, 8-0, and advanced to the second round. In the first inning, Hirai took the lead with a catch. In the second inning, Rei Uchiyama added two runs with a timely double. In the third inning, he scored 5 points in a round of attacks by the batter, giving him a total of 8 points. In throwing, captain Shiryu Nagasawa and Ryo Inagawa won the game with no hits and no runs.

Captain Nagasawa said with a smile, “We didn’t make any mistakes, so we were able to attack without breaking our rhythm.
