The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, and the Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, held a meeting in Munich this Saturday, in which the American warned his counterpart that the incident of the alleged spy balloon that Washington decided to shoot down ” It must not happen again”, while the Oriental complained about the “excessive use of force” resolved by the White House.
This meeting, apart from the Munich Security Conference (MSC), was the first in person after the crisis opened by the shooting down of the alleged spy balloon in Beijing, on February 4, which for the White House had espionage and for Beijing it was meteorological research.
“I condemned the PRC surveillance balloon raid and stressed that it must not happen again. I warned China against supplying Russia with aid material and also stressed the importance of keeping lines of communication open,” Blinken noted on his Twitter account.

For his part, according to the Chinese state news agency Xinhua, Wang told Blinken that relations between the two countries had been damaged by the United States’ response to the presence of the Chinese balloon that was flying over its territory.
The Xinhua report noted that Wang “made clear China’s solemn position on the so-called airship incident” and “urged the US side to change course, acknowledge and repair the damage that its excessive use of force caused to relations.” between China and the United States.

Hours before this meeting, Wang questioned the United States in his appearance before the international forum, in which he called President Joe Biden’s decision to shoot down a balloon that his government had only for meteorological purposes an “incomprehensible and almost hysterical” act.
“There are many balloons in the sky from different countries. Do you want to shoot down each one of them?” Wang told the Munich Security Conference.
The United States shot down the balloon, which it blamed for surveillance purposes, off the coast of South Carolina on February 4 with an F-22 Raptor fighter.
China expressed its “strong discontent” as it ensures that the balloon was civilian, for meteorological research and that it arrived involuntarily into US airspace.
“We urge the United States not to do such absurd things simply to divert attention from its own internal problems,” Wang told the forum in Munich, according to the AFP news agency.
“We have asked the United States to handle this situation in a calm and professional manner,” he said.

“Unfortunately, the United States does not take these facts into account and uses high-tech fighter planes to shoot down a balloon with their missiles, which I find absurd and hysterical,” he added.
The downing of the balloon in South Carolina also occurred on the eve of a planned visit by Blinken to Beijing, which was called off by the United States over this crisis.
Those responsible for the department ensure that the trip is still on and a new date will be given when the conditions are adequate.
The United States subsequently shot down three other flying objects in its territory and Canada, the origin of which is being investigated by the US and Canadian authorities, but which according to Biden do not appear to have any link to the “spy” balloon.
Biden said at a press conference in Washington on Thursday that he planned to discuss the “spy” balloon with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, but said he would not apologize for shooting it down.
The Democratic president also warned that he will not hesitate to shoot down any flying object that poses a threat to the American people, while Blinken stressed this Saturday that the United States does not want “conflict” with China nor is it seeking “a new Cold War.”
