“The turtle” Willians Astudillo gets ready in Japan

After five years in Major League Baseball (MLB) and playing with Caribes de Anzoátegui in the 2022-23 Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP), Willians Astudillo will begin a new stage in his professional career on Japanese soil with Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks, where he hopes to show all his experience gained over time, and help in obtaining the title within the Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB, for its acronym in English).

The native of Barcelona, ​​since he signed with this currency, at the end of 2022, has already been working alongside the rest of his colleagues in the summer camp that takes place in the town of Miyazaki, where manager Hiroshi Fujimoto is already thinking about the squad that will debut in the local league for the coming March 4 against Hiroshima Toyo Carp.

In the most recent Hawks training match, where his compatriot Freddy Galvis is also in the club, the “Turtle” looked good with the wood, during an inter-squad duel that served to fine-tune the group, at new tournament.

In addition to Astudillo, for this NBP season, former New York Yankees Marwin González, with the Orix Buffaloes, Jesús Tinoco with the Seibú Lions and Yohander Méndez with Gigantes de Yomiuri will debut in Japanese baseball.
