The Spanish Under-21 team will face Switzerland at the Power Horse Stadium in Almería on March 24, a preparation match for the European Championship in the category that will also mean the debut as coach of Santi Denia, Real Madrid confirmed on Tuesday. Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).
Thus, ‘la Rojita’ will return to Almería seven years later to play a friendly match. The coach from La Mancha will take over from Luis de la Fuente, the current absolute national coach, and will make his debut in this match at the helm of the Spanish under-21 team.
The duel against the Swiss team will serve as preparation for the European Championship of the category, which will be held in Georgia and Romania in the months of June and July. It will be the second game for the Under-21s at that stadium and the fourth time they will visit the city of Almeria.
The last precedent, in November 2015, resulted in a resounding victory (5-0) against Georgia with goals from Deulofeu (3), Williams and Ceballos in a qualifying match for the 2017 European Championship in the category.
