The leading teams continue to lose, “Coyote” breaks into the play-off zone – Floorball – Sportacentrs.com

The central game of the round was played in Inchukalna, where the local SK “Coyote” hosted “Līgatni” at home. Prior to this battle, the teams were ranked fifth and fourth respectively, meaning a battle for the final spot in the playoffs. Līgatni had two more points, but the “coyotes” managed to start the match perfectly, taking a 4-0 lead until the beginning of the second period, but triumphing in the whole game with a score of 10-5, which allowed them to overtake their rivals in the table and break into the playoff zone. For the winners, Dāvis Mintiks and Renārs Liepiņš were the most productive, scoring two goals and making one assist.

The leaders of the Eastern region “Rēzekne BJSS” have experienced the second loss in a row, who have had problems with the composition of the team in the last matches. This time, the people of Rezekne lost 5:7 at home to “Aizkraukle/Koknese”, who are the closest followers in the tournament table. However, the gap is still large enough to not have to worry about giving up the first place. However, questions about the team’s readiness for the playoffs arise. Niklāvs Vingris scored a goal and made two assists for the winners, while Andrejs Kozlovs was the top scorer for the hosts with two goals and the same number of assists. The visiting floorball player Ivo Kokin had a remarkable game, with 1+1. He thus reached his hundredth goal scored in the Latvian championship in the men’s 2nd league.

The loss was experienced not only by the leading team of the East, but also by FK “Vārme”, which is quite comfortably in the first position in the West. This time, the leaders lost to FK NND with a score of 7:9, thus also losing the second match in a row. Although “Vārme” achieved 1:2 in the first period, it was very difficult for the team to win, because at the beginning of the third period, the people of Riga were in the lead with a crushing 9:3. In the remaining time, the favorites made a small cosmetic repair to the result, but it was impossible to earn points in the table. Another successful game for “NND” Aiv Barkovskis, who scored five goals.

The closest followers of the Vārme team met with each other in Tērvete, where FK “Jūrmala” visited. In the first period, the teams were happy with high results, each of the teams scored four goals. No goals were scored in the second period, but in the final period, German Titovs first put the guests in the lead, but four minutes before the end of the regular time, Rolands Zvirgzdiņš managed to balance the result. The winner had to be determined in extra time, when Jānis Hartiks secured a 6:5 victory for the Tērvete team, which allowed them to further consolidate second place in the table. Hartik was the top scorer of his team in this game with two goals and the same number of assists, but Kristaps Pešiks, who had one accurate shot, after this match, with 319 points, climbed to the 13th place of the league’s all-time scorers, ahead of Gati Egli. Harald Niedrītis has only one point more, so the climb to the top could continue in the next round as well.

“Smiltene’09” managed to win not only the first points, but also the first victory of the season, beating “Kalsnava” 9:8 in extra time. In the course of the match, the teams alternately scored goals, but after the second period, Smiltenians were in the lead with the result 6:4. In the third period, the guests were able to fight back and after the goal of Rudolph Briež, four minutes before the end of the regular time, took the lead with 8:7. Edgars Spirido equalized the score a minute and a half before the final whistle, providing the team with the first point of the season. In the overtime, the guests got the right to play in the numerical majority and Pēteris Grodnis took advantage of the opportunity, allowing the team to celebrate a 9:8 victory. Grodnis was the main character with four assists.

Finally, FK “JeNo” convincingly beat the “Saldus Florbols” team at home with a score of 10:6, which had recently demonstrated very high results. This time they failed to do so, thus overshadowing the ability of the team’s playing coach Roland Reinson, who has reached the 100-point mark at this level. Intars Labsvārds marked the winners with three accurate broadcasts.
