THE IES RIBERA DEL JALÓN RECEIVES SPORTS EQUIPMENT FROM THE BOARD TO PRACTICE FOOTBALL

The territorial delegate of the Junta de Castilla y León in Soria, Yolanda de Gregorio, has attended this morning the delivery of sports equipment, by the Territorial Service of Culture, Tourism and Sports, to different educational centers in the province that have participated in Castilla y León school championships in the 2021-2022 season. Various sports equipment has also been granted to schools located in municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants, whose municipalities organized these regional school-age championships, in the case of the Ribera del Jalón Institute, in Arcos de Jalón, for the sport of futsal.

During the past year, the province of Soria has participated in one or two sports modalities: the Virgen del Espino Secondary Education Institute (IES), in table tennis and badminton; IES Castilla, in cross country and athletics; the IES Politécnico, in cross country; the Infantes de Lara Early Childhood and Primary Education Center (CEIP), in athletics; the CEIP Los Doce Lineajes, in chess; and the concerted Santa Teresa de Jesús, in volleyball, and Nuestra Señora del Pilar, in basketball.

For its part, along with the IES on the Soria slope of Alto Jalón, others such as the Picos de Urbión Institute, in Covaleda, for indoor soccer and badminton; and the CEIP Pinar Grande, in Navaleno, for the orientation activity, have received sports equipment from the Board. Various material related to the practice of the aforementioned sports has been delivered, such as balls, nets, markers, rackets, table tennis blades, chess games, compasses, sportswear, stopwatches, etc.

During the event, which was attended by teachers and students from the centers, the territorial delegate stated that “school sports help to develop healthy habits, as well as values ​​and positive attitudes in the little ones; It is a fundamental and very effective tool for the development of individuals and society. For all these reasons, schools must be ideal spaces for the promotion of sports practice understood as a fundamental aspect of education and not so much as a competition; promoting camaraderie, teamwork, respect for the rival, responsibility, commitment and tolerance”.
