“The 2030 World Cup is not one more, it deserves a celebration with recognition for 100 years”said the Paraguayan leader, who considered that it should be played in “Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay and Chile”, countries that have already formally confirmed their candidacy three years ago.

The top leader of South American soccer repeatedly trusted that the world soccer leadership could have “a gesture of greatness” to assign the headquarters to the place of origin of the World Cup, above other interests.

“We must recognize that what is now the World Cup began in South America in 1930,” Domínguez told Télam in Doha during the recent World Cup.

For his part, referring to the presentation, Matías Lammens assured that “the argument that we always outline in favor of this candidacy is that the first World Cup was played in the Río de la Plata, in 1930 in Uruguay, and that we think It is only fair that 100 years after that event, he returns to these lands for all that South America has contributed to the history of soccer and the World Cups”.
