The 45th edition of the Zurich San Sebastián Marathon opens its registrations this Wednesday

The Zurich San Sebastián Marathon, organized by the Gipuzkoan Athletic Federation, Donosti Eventos and RPM Sports, sets course for its next edition with the opening of registrations this Wednesday. The second oldest marathon in Spain, after the one in Madrid, celebrates its 45th anniversary this year and does so in top form after launching a more touristic circuit in 2022, selling out bib numbers a week ahead of schedule, and breaking the record for the test in the women’s category, thanks to the great record of the Kenyan Sirwanei Taniu who pulverized the record of Ana Isabel Alonso who had resisted since 1995.

After the success of the last edition, this year the circuit approved and released last year will be maintained, and whose main novelty was to move the start and finish line to the center of San Sebastián. Departing from Calle Hernani and arriving at the emblematic Boulevard, the final scene of major sporting events, the circuit gained speed and tourist attraction, and allowed the public to feel the heat throughout the journey from start to finish.

With a format of one small lap and two long, asymmetric ones, it was a practically flat layout that covered the most touristic places in the city. The Alderdi Eder Gardens, the Buen Pastor Cathedral, Avenida de la Libertad, Paseo de la Concha, Musikene, the Anoeta Stadium, the Kursaal Conference Center or the Victoria Eugenia Theatre, are some of the places that will return to tour the participants on November 26. In the last edition, the Zurich San Sebastián Marathon reinforced its international character, with 40% of foreign participants and 52 countries represented.
