Plíšková is celebrating her tenth jubilee participation in the popular tournament of the WTA 1000 category, and she would certainly not be opposed to repeating her final participation from 2015. She has a positive balance of 2:0 in her two duels with Vondrousová so far, but she carries as a memento the result from last week, when at the tournament in Doha was eliminated in the first round against Ruska Alexandrova after sets 1:6, 2:6.
Vondroušová, who dropped out of the top 100 in the WTA rankings last week, has had a successful performance in the 1st round of the doubles competition in Dubai, and before the meeting with the current world number 18, she can take comfort in optimistic statistics: she has won six of the last eight matches against TOP20 players.
