NBA – Mat Ishbia officially takes control of the club and its CEO, Jason Rowley, accused of behavioral deviations by employees of the organization, is leaving.
It is unanimously (29-0) that the other owners validated the passage of the franchise from Robert Sarver to Mat Ishbia, even if Dan Gilbert, the boss of the Cavaliers, abstained. The two men are direct competitors in the mortgage market in the United States, being at the head of the two largest companies in the sector.
Mat Ishbia can now be officially introduced to Suns fans, possibly as early as Wednesday…
For Robert Sarver, the sale of his 37% of the club will bring him 1.48 billion dollars and, even after paying the taxes, he will therefore make a nice capital gain, after having bought the club for 401 million in 2004.
The CEO of the Suns takes the opportunity to leave
The effective arrival of Mat Ishbia will undoubtedly lead to a major cleaning within the club because before the vote of the owners, it is the CEO of the former management team, Jason Rowley, who resigned.
Many accusations concerning his misbehavior with franchise employees had been made public by ESPN
, following investigations that led to the suspension of former owner Robert Sarver. We mentioned in particular his anger, his threats or his management of pregnant employees, but also the fact of having allowed the establishment of a toxic atmosphere within the franchise.
Jason Rowley had however declared that he would not leave his functions despite the accusations which accumulated concerning him, believing that he had done nothing reprehensible, until finally changing his mind. It was acting franchise boss Sam Garvin who broke the news.
“After 15 years of hard work and dedicated service, Jason felt the change in ownership created the perfect timing to close this chapter in his professional journey and pursue new opportunities.”
