Simon Mignolet is considering quitting as a Red Devil: “It weighs on my career” | Red Devils

“It is a great gift to play for the national team. I always liked to do that. I’ve been through everything with the current generation. From qualifying for a major tournament to the bronze medal in Russia. It is also a very nice group.”

Simon Mignolet praises the Red Devils in the podcast ‘Eleven Insiders’, but then explains that he is considering stopping as an international soon. “It weighs on my career,” says the brand new Golden Shoe. “In Brazil I broke two fingers and before the last European Championship I broke my knee. Apart from the fact that I did not play, that is an extra burden on the football that I want to play.”

Mignolet wants to end his contract with Club Brugge until 2026 anyway, and he also wants to continue after that. “I will soon be 35 years old. It will be weighing up what is most important at what time. I will discuss a possible departure from the Red Devils with Club Brugge and also quote at home, but it is clear that I will have to make a decision before March. In the run-up to a new campaign, this must be clear and you must communicate honestly to everyone.”
