“Serena Williams and the Big 3 have already accomplished what I did in 2022”

Iga Swiatek humbly suggested that her amazing 2022 season was not something very unique, as she pointed out that the great Serena Williams was also used to having very dominant years.

Last year, Swiatek made nine finals and collected eight titles – two of those eight titles came in Grand Slams and the Pole finished the 2022 season more than 5,000 points clear of then second-placed Ons Jabeur.

I mean, eight titles, two majors, nine finals. Iga, who does that ?” asked the interviewer to Swiatek after the Pole’s victory over Danielle Collins in the Round of 16 in Doha (6-0 6-1), according to Sportskeeda.

Swiatek quickly responded to the question saying, “Serena does this. The Big-3 do that too!

Swiatek on consistency on the WTA Tour.

After a very dominant 2022 season, Swiatek didn’t have a strong start to the year in Australia.

In the inaugural United Cup, Swiatek suffered a 6-2 6-2 loss to Jessica Pegula before losing 6-4 6-4 to Elena Rybakina in the Australian Open Round of 16.
Swiatek has looked a bit shaky at the start of the season and many are wondering how she will fare in 2023..

“I don’t really know how to judge this (the change in consistency at the top of the women’s game), because on the other hand, there were also very consistent players three or four years ago, like Naomi or Bianca Andreescu.

But we will see what will happen in the future. My goal is of course to be consistent, and since 2021 I just wanted to be consistent but at a higher level, like being in the semi-finals or the final.

Last season showed that I could do it. But now I want to get back into balance and not put pressure on myself because I know I’m not going to win every tournament,” Swiatek explained.
