Sánchez plays a match with the disabled

From petanque, to chess, and now to basketball on wheels. The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, played a basketball game in Wheelchair in which all participants had the number 49 on his bib, in reference to the article of the Constitution which will be reformed to include the expression “People with disabilities”.

Sánchez, after returning from Rabat (Morocco), has posted this Friday at noon on his account Twitter a video in which several moments of the game are seen, along with a message from gratitude wheelchair basketball clubs FDI Villa de Leganés Foundationwho is a member of the Division of Honor, and Getafe BSRwhich does so in the First Division.

“This morning we wore con pride the 49 on the shirt”, Sánchez indicated when presenting the video, adding: “Basketball lesson but, above all, life lesson. It’s been a pleasure shooting some baskets with you.”

“I just finished a game with these great players in wheelchairs, people who work every day, who exceed about 4 million Spanish men and women with some type of disability,” Sánchez explains in another video.

According to the President of the Government, the administrations can do “much more to integrate the reality of disability” and he has highlighted how they have done it in the field of sport, through the Sports Law, “a pioneer in the integration of disability”.

Reform of the Constitution

Although, he has specified that there are still “pending tasks” such as “reform article 49 of the Constitution” that uses the term ‘disabled’ to refer to people with disabilities. For this reason, he has stressed that “the Government of Spain has proposed a reform of this article, in line with what the United Nations establishes” and has shown his desire that this demand from disability organizations “see the light soon in The general courts”.
