The opening match day in the 1st Bundesliga is within reach. In less than two months, the showdown for the 2023 German championship title will begin for thirteen teams. The season will start on March 31 with the game between the Mannheim Tornados and the Heidenheim Heideköpfen.

Disciples present six new players

They provided information via their social media channels Munich-Her Disciples in the past week about their new players. Bayern presented a total of six names for the coming season:

Among the new signings is also a reigning German champion. Nick Miceli moves from the Bonn Capitals to the Bavarian capital. Miceli came to Bonn in 2019 from the Bremen Dockers. In the past four years, the 28-year-old and his team have regularly been in the final series for the German championship, which he won for the first time in 2022.

For pitchers Tom Kruger the journey continues in the 1st Bundesliga. In the 2022 season, Krüger was still in the squad for the Bundesliga relegated Ulm Falcons.

Justin Olic changes from the far north to the south. The outfielder was in the service of the Hamburg Stealers in the 1st Bundesliga last year.

Alex Ashby makes his Bundesliga debut next season. The American comes from Louisiana Christian University (Division 3) and was last in the Northern Districts Reds squad in the South Australian Baseball League.

The Austrian national player has a slightly shorter journey Lukas Bickel. He moves from the Feldkirch Cardinals (Austria) to Munich. Last season he was named ‘ABL Best Batter 2022’.

RHP Stephen Norrell most recently played college baseball with the Ottawa University Braves and will join the Disciples’ pitching staff for the coming season.

Heideköpfe rely on young talents

Die Heidenheim Heidekopf complete their squad with three more newcomers. Kilian Redle, Konstantin Teufel and Konstantin Schiele are all U23 players and can therefore be used in the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga without restrictions.

Catcher Kilian Redle made his debut in the 1st Bundesliga with the Guggenberger Legionnaires in 2022. Four years ago, the 17-year-old came to Regensburg and attended the sports boarding school there.

The two RHP Constantine Teufel and Konstantin Schiele want to celebrate their debut in the top German division in 2023. Both have already gained a lot of experience in the 2nd Bundesliga. Teufel attended the sports boarding school in Regensburg until 2021 and celebrated winning the German U18 championship in 2019. In the same year, Schiele became U18 runner-up with the Heideköpfe, for which he played with second-game rights.
