“Ronaldo’s presence makes our games difficult,” says Luiz Gustavo, his teammate at Al Nassr

Luiz Gustavo gave his first impressions of his new teammate Cristiano Ronaldo. For the former OM player, the Portuguese is “an advantage”, even if he makes things “more difficult” for his partners.

The arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo in Al-Nassr after the World Cup has allowed the Saudi championship to be highlighted. The eyes of the whole world then turned to the training coached by Rudi Garcia, leader of the Saudi League (only one defeat in 15 games). Holder in the last four matches in all competitions, the Portuguese is slow to impose himself within the collective of the Yellow and Blue, who have won only one match over the period (1-0 against Al-Ettifaq, the 22 January).

Last weekend, the new captain of Al-Nassr scored for the first time with his new team on penalty, allowing him to snatch a draw in money-time against Al-Fateh (2-2).

“His presence makes our matches difficult”

Since his arrival, many things have changed for his partners, as explained by Luiz Gustavo. “The presence of Cristiano Ronaldo encourages his opponents to beat the leader of the championship. His presence makes our matches more difficult. The opposing teams try to play their best against him”, confided the former Marseillais to RT Arabic.

But the presence of the five-time Ballon d’Or “motivates everyone” within the club. “His presence guarantees a great advantage to our group, because we learn from him every day, given the great technical and physical qualities he possesses. Cristiano Ronaldo was created to face challenges, and he always succeeds. He has already scored his first goal and so he took the pressure off.”

His counter now unlocked, CR7 is expected this Thursday on the lawn of Al Wehda (6:30 p.m.) to hope to shake the teammates of the former Caennais Fayçal Fajr.
