RACING 3 – SAINT MARTIN DE FORMOSA 1

Racing did not play well, but it put its hierarchy on the field and eliminated San Martín de Formosa by winning 3-1.

Already at the start, San Martín gave the blow and in less than a minute he took the lead, with a goal from Óscar Chiquichano. After a bad start from La Academia, Insua wanted to give the goalkeeper a pass, he committed it to Arias and the Federal A team pressed in the middle of the area to keep the ball and that is where Chiquichano finished off to score the first goal of the night in Chaco.

Then Fernando Gago’s team took the position of the ball, but failed to be deep in the first minutes. Those led by Nazareno Godoy regrouped in defense and tried to play on the counterattack. At times Ariel Vega disturbed the Racing goalkeeper with medium-distance shots but they did not have a goal destination.
Racing put pressure and tried first with Reniero who shot wide, then with Cardona from a free kick where goalkeeper David Correa covered the Colombian’s shot. Later Moralez tried but shot slowly and into the goalkeeper’s body. Already towards the end of the first half, La Academia equalized, Oscar Opazo was left free on the right wing and he did not hesitate and hit a cross shot that left the San Martín de Formosa goalkeeper without a chance.

In the complement Racing started imprecisely and had some impressions at the start, which San Martín de Formosa did not know how to take advantage of. Once La Academia was settled, it tried everywhere to break the line of San Martín. Racing lacked offensive weight and Gago put all the changes in the attack part of La Academia. There, through Rojas, goalkeeper David Correa began to worry. At the end came the goals for Racing, Opazo overflowed and gave it to Hauche, who scored a good cross for Gabriel Rojas to attack by surprise and score a shot from Correa’s goal, nothing to be for the goalkeeper. Minutes later, Rojas executed a free kick with excellence, Correa covered the shot, but it rebounded and the ball was served for Paolo Guerrero to score the third for La Academia.

In a burst of two minutes, Racing got the difference on the scoreboard, San Martín de Formosa felt the blow. In a match where he was elusive from the start for those led by Gago, they were able to liquidate him at the end, without making a great game and where his rival, a team that came without competition, played a more than worthy game and at times concerned the Academy.

Without more to add, Nicolás Ramírez decreed the end of the match and with it the advance to the 16th final of Racing in the Argentine Cup, which will have to face the winner of the key between San Martín de Tucumán and Deportivo Morón.
