The Royal Automobile Club of Spain (RACE) and the Royal Spanish Automobile Federation have reached an alliance to promote the Spanish Alternative Energies Championship (CEEA), a competition where electric and hybrid vehicles will be the main protagonists.

By virtue of this agreement, signed between the presidents of the Royal Automobile Club of Spain, Carmelo Sanz de Barros, and that of the Royal Spanish Automobile Federation, Manuel Aviñó, both entities undertake, through the competition, to promote actions to reducing the carbon footprint.

The Spanish Championship of Alternative Energies-RACE begins the first weekend of March with the Ecorallye Renomar of the Valencian Community. The Castellón event on the calendar will feature the national specialists of this event who, in addition, will face the majority of the contenders for the title called by the FIA.

On behalf of the RFEDA, Manuel Aviñó, indicated that: «We could not find a better traveling companion than RACE for this carbon footprint neutralization project. The Spanish Alternative Energies Championship, which, from this agreement, will have the RACE image in all its qualifying events, is the best example of our sensitivity towards the development of competitions with fewer emissions. To do this, we are starting a project that, based on the awareness of the collective, seeks the greatest reduction in emissions and, in due course, compensation for the zero footprint.

For his part, Carmelo Sanz de Barros highlighted that: «The competition is a great showcase for new technologies and, in this way, bring them closer to users. Above all because, currently, there is a lack of communication and knowledge about alternative energies and their future and, in our opinion, this type of test will allow the final consumer to learn more about the future of the new mobility”.
