Puerto Rico delivered a roster of 16 pitchers and 14 position players for the World Classic

The Puerto Rico Baseball Federation (FBPR) complied with the deadline established by Major League Baseball (MLB) by presenting today the final roster of 30 players for the upcoming World Baseball Classic (WBC).

The general manager, Joey Solá, delivered the document after a last meeting with the leader Yadier Molina and the members of the coaching staff.

“There were many hours and many days of hard work, not only mine, but also that of the coaching staff that was involved in the entire decision-making process. Many hours of meetings, but the work is facilitated when you have a group of professionals who shake your hand”, said Solá.

Of the 30 members of the final roster, 16 are pitchers and 14 are position players, the general manager explained. In addition, four pitchers were included in a ‘pitcher’s pool’, required by MLB.

Solá announced that the team will have several new faces, who will wear the colors of Puerto Rico for the first time. “We have young guys with experience in the Major Leagues and Minor League Baseball,” Solá said.

MLB will present all the rosters heading to the WBC, this Thursday, at 8:00 pm.
