Professional league NBA – 3.5 billion dollars for a team – sport

The Milwaukee Bucks are about to be sold and are expected to bring in the second highest sum in the history of the professional basketball league NBA. Co-owner Marc Lasry will sell his controlling interest in the franchise for $3.5 billion, according to ESPN information. The buyers are Jimmy Haslam and his wife Dee, who already own the Cleveland Browns (NFL/football) and Columbus Crew (MLS/football). The NBA still has to approve the deal for Greek superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo’s team. So far, only the Phoenix Suns have changed hands for a higher price (4 billion). That was enough for second place in US sports behind the Denver Broncos from the NFL (4.65). Lasry acquired the Bucks with Wes Edens in 2014 for $550 million. Both are hedge fund managers.
