Nosková – Šarífová 6:3, 6:2, Excellent! Nosková advanced to the quarterfinals of the WTA tournament for the third time in her career

After a successful qualification in Lyon, coach David Kotyza’s client won the scalp of former world number one Garbiňa Muguruza from Spain and today she did not hesitate even against another more experienced opponent. She defeated Sharif in 69 minutes and will move into the top 50 in the WTA rankings, where she will be the youngest player.

Against Osorio, they will try to maintain their 100% success rate in the quarter-final matches on the elite circuit. At the beginning of the season, she shined at the WTA 500 tournament in Adelaide, where she only lost in the final to the eventual champion of the Australian Open, Aryna Sabalenkova from Belarus. In her premiere among the top eight last year in Prague, she advanced to the semi-finals.

Seventeen-year-old Fruhvirtová did not reach the quarterfinals

Seventeen-year-old tennis player Linda Fruhvirtová did not make her third quarter-final appearance on the WTA circuit at the tournament in Hua Chin. The eighth-seeded Czech in Thailand lost to Tamara Zidanšek from Slovenia 3:6, 6:4, 4:6 in the second round after a three-hour battle.

Fruhvirtová, who rose to 51st place in the WTA rankings thanks to her participation in the round of 16 of the Australian Open, was the paper favorite before the match. Former world number 22 Zidanšeková, who is currently trying to return to the top 100, entered the match better and won the opening set 6:3.

In the second, the elder of the Fruhvirt sisters was close to being eliminated, but from 1:4 she won five games in a row and forced the third set. In it, she was the first to take the lead, but immediately lost the advantage of the break.

Her loss grew to 2:5 and this time she failed to turn around. Although she reduced it to 4:5, she offered the 2021 Roland Garros semifinalist three match points on her own serve, and Zidanšeková used the second chance.
