Minneapolis.

The Orlando Magic with the German national basketball players Franz and Moritz Wagner have won an important away win in the NBA.

In a heated duel at the Minnesota Timberwolves, five players were dismissed after a wild brawl. In the end, the Magic won 127-120 (64-57). The balance in the squad helped the team from Orlando.

With Cole Anthony (20 points) and Moritz Wagner (19 points), two players coming off the bench were the best throwers. Ten players scored at least nine points. Franz Wagner also recorded six rebounds and four assists, but he also lost four turnovers.

Late in the third quarter, an altercation between Minnesota’s Austin Rivers and Orlando’s Mo Bamba in front of Magic Bank sparked a fight that spilled onto the field. Five players were then sent off the field. The Wagner brothers were not involved. At the end of December, Moritz Wagner triggered a pack formation against the Detroit Pistons, at that time eleven players were banned for at least one game.

Meanwhile, Daniel Theis celebrated his first win with the Indiana Pacers. The long-injured center scored his first eight points for his new team in the 107-104 against the Sacramento Kings and also grabbed four rebounds. After moving from last year’s finalist Boston Celtics to the Pacers, Theis was unable to play for a long time due to knee problems and only made his season debut the day before in a 111:112 win against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Theis’ former Boston side lost to the Phoenix Suns 94-106, but the Celtics remain the team with the best record in the league. The Philadelphia 76ers around star player Joel Embiid have won nine of their last ten games after beating the San Antonio Spurs 137:125. For the Spurs, on the other hand, it was the eighth loss in a row. (dpa)
