NBA: Match between Detroit Pistons and Washington Wizards postponed

The Detroit Pistons’ home game against the Washington Wizards, scheduled for Wednesday, was postponed to a later date as the Pistons remained stranded in Dallas due to an ice storm, the NBA said.

“Due to severe weather conditions in the Dallas area, the Pistons were unable to return to Detroit following their Monday game at the American Airlines Center,” the league said in a statement.

“The date of the rescheduled match will be announced later,” concluded the body.

More than a thousand flights in and out of the Dallas area have been canceled. This storm looks set to continue and it’s unclear when Detroit players will be able to return home. According to ESPN, they spent seven hours in the Dallas airport on Tuesday evening before repatriating themselves to a hotel.

This same media also reports that the NBA was working with the New Orleans Pelicans to try to organize the trip from Denver to Dallas, for a game scheduled for Thursday against the Mavericks.

The Louisiana team conceded a ninth straight loss Tuesday against the Nuggets, leaders of the Western Conference.
