NBA: Dennis Schröder’s teammate – Lakers professional Reaves wants to join the DBB team! – US SPORTS NBA BASKETBALL

Will our DBB team be growing soon?

NBA professional Austin Reaves (24) would like to play for the German national basketball team in the future. The 24-year-old announced this after the Victory against the Golden State Warriors on Thursday. Reaves currently plays with the Los Angeles Lakers along with DBB captain Dennis Schröder (29).

“I want that one day. I don’t know when that day will come, whether this summer, next summer or the summer after. I have to talk to my people, but it would be cool and it’s something that I and Dennis (Schröder, editor’s note) talked about a lot,” Reaves told the German Press Agency.

But is that even possible? “I have citizenship. I just have to submit my papers, my brother did that a few months ago,” reports the 24-year-old. Reaves has a German grandmother. His older brother Spencer (27) plays for Bamberg in the Bundesliga.

What: Stats Perform

It’s clear: DBB captain Dennis Schröder would like to have his Lakers colleague in the national team. “He would like to, but this year is his contract year and he has to watch it,” said the 29-year-old, referring to Reave’s expiring contract with the Lakers. “We don’t need to annoy him now and put pressure on him.”

There is also said to have been contact with the German association – if only briefly. “I met one of the coaches last summer and we chatted a bit via text, but it wasn’t much,” says Reaves.

Can fans even take chances of Schröder colleagues taking part in the World Cup? “I deal with what’s happening here and don’t worry about it that much,” Reaves admits. From August 25 to September 10, 2023, the Basketball World Cup will take place in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia.
