Naby Keita will leave Liverpool in the summer

Liverpool FC and Naby Keita will probably go their separate ways in the future.

As “Sky” expert Florian Plettenberg reports, the former Salzburger will not extend his contract with the struggling “Reds”, which expires next summer. Since his transfer to the English Premier League in the summer of 2018, Keita has never really been able to assert himself under Jürgen Klopp.

Stopped this season for the 27-year-old is a protracted injury that kept him out of attendance from August until early November. In the last four games, Keita had once again secured a regular place, but failed to impress. Since there are currently no talks about a contract extension, the midfielder will probably be able to look for a new club in the summer.

There should be enough interest in Keita, including a return to the German Bundesliga. According to Plettenberg, however, a last-minute transfer to the Turkish league to Galatsaray is off the table.

Keita made his big breakthrough in international football in the Austrian Bundesliga, where he played over 80 competitive games for Red Bull Salzburg between 2014 and 2016. After two years at RB Leipzig, the move to the island finally followed.
