Messina, the season of major events can start again at the PalaRescifina

The last notes were, just under ten years ago, those of “Little Katy”, with i Pooh in their most stable formation. It was also Red Canzian’s birthday, just to make it even more impressive. Then, those spotlights turned off, the last note played, darkness and silence took over the PalaRescifina.

After the golden years of the San Filippo sports center – the arena with Messina basketball and concerts by big names (from Baglioni to Jovanotti), the stadium with Messina in Serie A and, here too, the big shows (from Vasco to Ligabue) -, the light went out between 2011, the year of the unfortunate collapse of the wall at the stadium, and the end of 2013 when, after the Pooh concert, the curtain fell on the PalaRescifina, due to infiltrations on the roof, a non-functioning air conditioning system and the absence of a fire trail from the fire department. Other than 4-5 thousand spectators: reduced usability and goodbye to big concerts (they returned, however, within a couple of years to the Scoglio stadium).

Now, finally, the time is ripe for those lights to come back on, both for sport, the plant’s natural vocationas for the shows, a theme very dear to an Administration which is investing a lot of the money received for the pandemic crisis on the territorial marketing linked to the “Messina brand” and to major events.
