The 2023 Alpine Ski World Championships are in full swing! The best downhill athletes in the world have been coming together in the French Alps since February 6th. The final disciplines of the tournament will be held next Sunday.

In the previous sessions, the Italian team in particular drew attention to itself. Thanks to the victories of Federica Brignone (2x) and Marta Bassino, three out of four women’s races have so far gone to La Nazionale. The German squad was mostly left behind in the past races. Emma Aicher delivered the best result of the tournament in the combination; she managed eighth place.

Today’s race is a parallel race. Two athletes compete side by side on an almost identical course. To ensure fairness, a second run is held in which the riders swap slopes. The person with the better overall time then advances to the next round.
