The Los Angeles Chargers will have big decisions to make soon and wide receiver Keenan Allen could be sacrificed.

Currently, the California formation exceeds the salary cap limit by just over $ 23 million for the next NFL campaign. According to sports website The Athletic, the Chargers plan to release Allen to save around $15 million.

The 30-year-old veteran has been limited to 10 regular season games in 2022 due to a few injuries. He still put his hands on 66 balls for gains of 752 yards and four touchdowns.

Allen was drafted by the Chargers, who were playing in San Diego at the time, in the third round of the 2013 auction. Since then, he has had five seasons where he has amassed at least 1,000 yards on catches. The veteran also received five consecutive invitations for the Pro Bowl game, from 2017 to 2021.

In addition to Allen, the Chargers are also considering releasing tight end Gerald Everett. This would allow them to divest themselves of just over $4 million from their payroll. The 28-year-old footballer has caught 58 throws for 555 yards and four majors in 16 games this season. In their lone playoff game this year, a 31-30 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, Everett had six receptions for 109 yards and a touchdown.
