Is it worth it? Gianluigi Donnarumma gets turned on after his blunder against Bayern

A small mistake that is very expensive for PSG. Not always imperial between the Parisian cages for a few months, Gianluigi Donnarumma flinched again at the worst of times against Bayern, holed up on a strike from Kingsley Coman before the hour mark. And if this goal conceded, the only one of the meeting moreover, could be attributed to half of the Parisian defense, it is the Italian who very quickly became the scapegoat for the short French defeat (0-1). Despite some great stops afterwards.

With a score of 4 by the team, Donnarumma was much less spared by the Italian and Spanish media. “Donnarumma, what a mistake” title for example Sports Courier. A clear-cut opinion but shared by the Gazzetta dello Sport who nevertheless tries to be a tad more nuanced: “Gigio is guilty on Coman’s goal but then avoided a heavier defeat. After last year’s mistakes at the Bernabeu, the Italian goalkeeper again risks costing PSG’s ambitions in Europe dearly. It’s true that Gigio redeems himself immediately afterwards with two stops ahead of Choupo-Moting and Pavard, but when we take stock, it’s still a serious mistake.”

Same topo in Spain, therefore, where Donnarumma does not escape criticism: “One more time ! Donnarumma condemns PSG with this goal conceded. The ball went right at him but incomprehensibly he couldn’t stop it. It’s reminiscent of his gift in the round of 16 against Real Madrid last season“wrote AS, referring to the goal offered by the goalkeeper to Karim Benzema.

On the Marca side, it’s the same thing and obviously also this memory of last year’s round of 16 which resurfaces. : “Last season’s gift to Karim Benzema still resonates at the Parc des Princes. Still in the round of 16, the PSG goalkeeper made one more mistake, perhaps not so grotesque as at the time, but nothing doubt he could have done better on Coman’s shot, which slipped under his body.”

So too harsh a judgment by the media or a real blunder by the goalkeeper? The truth probably lies between the two. We also recall that this winter, Keylor Navas was loaned to Nottingham when he had been moping on the bench for many months.
