Hélène Hendriks is happy that European football has started again this week. The reporter and presenter herself has experienced the necessary European duels up close.
The best European match she has seen was between FC Barcelona and Liverpool. “That diptych in the Champions League in 2019,” says Hendriks opposite FHM. “There was everything in it. A fantastic free kick from Messi and that the impossible happened in that second game. That was really great. I was there too in that first game, in Barcelona. Yes, I will never forget that.”
Hendriks can also enjoy the Europa League now that teams like FC Barcelona and Manchester United are facing each other. The first game ended in a 2-2 draw on Thursday evening. “Two superpowers against each other in the Europa League. That will be a fun competition anyway. We were sometimes quite contemptuous about it,” says the presenter.
“Also about the Conference League”, Hendriks continues. “Although Feyenoord did well there and then that mood also disappeared. I especially like it when the Dutch clubs do well, but I look at everything from a Dutch perspective. Then a team like United is also interesting with Ten Hag.”
