GPS + Galileo precision Garmin Forerunner 935

Garmin recently enabled GPS + Galileo support for several of its watches (coinciding with the launch of the Garmin Fenix 5 Plus). Among them we have the Garmin Forerunner 935 (fw >=9.60), from my point of view the best sports watch that Garmin has manufactured as of the date of publication of this entry.

The result is simply AWESOME ????. In my previous precision test of this same watch, in areas with poor GPS signal the watch was really bad. In the tests I have done again using the same route and the results cannot be better.

I have repeated the same route several times and have always had excellent and repeatable results in both drawing the track and measuring the actual distance. I have therefore updated my ranking of GPS accuracy of watches that I have used to put the Garmin Forerunner 935 practically on the same level as the iconic Suunto Ambit3 and Polar V800.

How GPS + Galileo support is activated

You have to modify each sport mode and activate the GPS + Galileo support, since there is no option to do it globally.

To activate this option:
From the clock time screen, long press the central button – settings – Activities and applications – (choose one by one each of the activities) – settings – GPS – choose GPS + Galileo

Testing

In case someone wants to take a look at several of the last 4 tests that I have done, the links in “the route”:

2018-07-30 – FR935 (Galileo) vs Suunto9 – Trail Running
2018-08-01 – FR935 (Galileo) vs Suunto9 – Trail Running
2018-08-05 – FR935 (Galileo) vs Ambit3 Peak – Trail Running

conclusions

Do you want a watch for training and competing? If the answer is yes, there is nothing better currently on the market. The Garmin Forerunner 935 is a very light watch (49 grams), precise, stable, highly customizable, with excellent battery life, with a quick-release mount for a bike, with advanced metrics for the evolution of your fitness, with very good connection with ANT+/BLE sensors, with a very good app for iOS and Android, live track and much more

Are you looking for a watch to train with a more elaborate aesthetic? There are many other options on the market like the Fenix 5 Plus at Garmin or the Spartan or S9 range at Suunto.

To end

The inclusion of support for Galileo satellites could be the next revolution in GPS watches, since years ago they stopped using large external antennas to move on to lighter and rounder watches, one of the most important features of this equipment had been lost. , the precision.

Many kilometers to all!
