Gaël Monfils, who had planned to return to competition next week after six months of absence, has finally withdrawn from the ATP 500 tournament in Rotterdam, we learned from the organizers.
The Parisian, 36, who has not played since last August and his elimination in the third round of the Masters 1000 in Montreal, had received an invitation to enter the final table of the Dutch tournament which he won in 2019 and 2020. He is indeed only 207th in the ATP ranking.
Monfils absent, there will only be two Frenchmen, Bentamin Bonzi and Richard Gasquet, current 42nd and 45th in the world, directly aligned in the final table where they will meet in the 1st round the Italian Jannik Sinner (17th) and the Spaniard Pablo Carreno ( 15th).
