The video tells the story of Gustavo Denis, a 26-year-old Venezuelan who arrived in Italy in 2020 and was included in the project RICO 2 (Strengthening #Integration, Building #Hospitality), promoted by Caritas Rome in partnership with ASCS and Centro Astalli to promote the working and housing inclusion of international refugees and protected persons.

The episode, narrated by the protagonist’s voice, retraces his story: from the months spent in Colombia, to his arrival in Italy, to his introduction into the reception system, between challenges and dreams.

Gustavo’s story is intertwined with that of the various partners who supported him in Italy. As the Center for Emigration Studies of Rome (CSER), an institution started in 1963 by the Scalabrinian Missionaries, who accompanied him in the process of obtaining documents, and where the young man underwent an apprenticeship which brings him closer to realizing his dream of becoming a journalist. An integration that also passes through sport, thanks to the under 14 baseball team of which he is currently the coach.

The video documentary, made by two professional journalists with the active participation of beneficiaries and project operators, highlights the difficulties of those arriving in Italy, the additional challenges they must face to make their dreams come true and the programs that Caritas of Rome implements every day , in collaboration with partners, on the territory, to promote paths of social, work and housing inclusion.
