Emirates News Agency – NAS Sports Tournament opens entry door for 10th edition

DUBAI, 21st February, 2023 (WAM) — The NAS Sports Tournament Organizing Committee has announced the opening of the registration gate for the 10th edition of the tournament, which will take place at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Tournament participants will compete in eight sports disciplines: volleyball, padel, jiu-jitsu, archery, fencing, wheelchair basketball, running and cycling. Individual and team registrations will open online on February 20 on the tournament website.

The NAS Sports Tournament was launched under the guidance and with the support of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, with the aim of developing the sports sector in Dubai.

Through this tournament, the committee aims to enhance the prominent role of competitions in spreading the culture of sports exercise and improving the skills and technical performance of promising athletes.

Registration of teams participating in the volleyball competition will continue until February 23, while player registration is scheduled for March 1-20. Each team is allowed to register a maximum of 14 players and a minimum of 10 players, of which at least 2 are Emirati. All players must be 18 years or older.

Registration for the 10km, 5km and 4km running competitions will continue until April 3. Participation in this competition is open to all locals and expatriates as well as international runners in different categories.

Registration for the 77 km cycling competition will continue until March 25. Participation is permitted for all locals and expatriates who participate in official races in the UAE and abroad from the age of 18 in several categories, including the Men’s and Women’s Open, the Determined Persons category and the Emirati amateurs for both sexes, among others.

Registrations for the padel competition continue until March 19. Competitors will compete in local and international categories and are open to Emirati and expat men and women.

Registration for the wheelchair basketball, fencing, jiu-jitsu and archery competitions will continue until March 16, 20, 21 and 24, respectively.
